Amazon.com Product Description
The 927 from AT&T is a corded phone with a built-in speakerphone for hands-free communication. Ten speed-dial presets allow you to quickly dial the most frequently used phone numbers, while three one-touch memory buttons are provided for important numbers, such as emergency medical or fire assistance. Volume controls for both the speaker and receiver allow you to adjust levels to your liking, while a mute button lets you listen to incoming audio without the outside party being able to listen to you.

The 927 has a redial button, which lets you quickly dial the last outgoing number, and is also hearing aid compatible. The 5.9-by-8.4-inch footprint fits easily onto available countertop space, and wall-mounting capability lets you free up countertop space completely. A directory card on the phone helps you keep track of the various speed dial entries, and the 927 operates without the need for AC power. The phone also comes backed by a one-year limited warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Great speaker phone!   July 18, 2010

This speaker phone is perfect for me: great sound quality and a nice loud ring!

5 out of 5 stars It's Good   May 26, 2010

It's a cheap, corded phone with no drawbacks. It is what it says it is.

4 out of 5 stars Some quirks, but outstanding sound quality and convenience.   April 4, 2010

I love this phone. I was considering a $200 Polycom Voicestation, but after reading the reviews on this phone, I ordered one. After trying it, I ordered three more (and I noticed that shipping charges drop dramatically for additional phones ordered together).

Unlike most inexpensive speakerphones, the microphone and speaker are crystal clear. They are handset quality, except that background noise or simplex protocol, can cause momentary interruptions. In practice, I have not found that to be serious problem. I can always pick up the handset if the evironment requires it.

The fact that this phone does not require an external power adaptor is a major plus! That is a rare feature on corded speakerphones. I have the phone on a long phone extension cord, that allows me to carry the phone from room to room. The range of the microphone is limited, but with the extension cord, I can keep the phone near me as I wander about the house doing things (with both of my hands and my shoulder free!).

I would have preferred a snugger fitting handset cradle. The handset sits loosely on the phone, and can be accidentally knocked off the hook, especially if the phone is not on a piece of furniture.

The touch tones have a slow loudness attack and decay, especially as you type additional digits. At first, I found I found this disconcerting, but quickly discovered that the tones themselves were more accurate than other ATT&T phones that had a crisper tone start and stop. Thus the phone was easier to use than other phones when keying in passcodes, account numbers and menu selections when calling automated services.

All in all, this phone is an excellent dollar value.

UPDATE: I need to modify my statement about the slow rise and decay of the volume of the touch tones. I eventually realized that the touch tones did not really have a slow attack and decay; they just sounded that way when using the speaker. The phenomenon was caused by the speaker-phone's automatic anti-feedback control. The effect varies from phone to phone, and in different environments.

1 out of 5 stars Didn't work new out of box   September 26, 2009

I purchased this phone via Amazon, but when it finally arrived, I found that a dial tone could be heard on both the speakerphone as well as the handset, however, the phone would not dial out! The buttons did nothing when pressed. None of the other features worked either. Very disappointed that something so simple would not work properly right out of the box. Buyer beware!

3 out of 5 stars good by itself, but poor with accessories   July 4, 2009

I love that this has speakerphone but doesn't require batteries or a seperate power cord to plug into the wall. Unfortunately, due to the way the hard plastic is shaped around the receiver, it won't accommodate any of those cord untanglers: not this one: GE Cord Untangler (TL26135) and certainly not this one: TwisStops Telephone Cord Untangler, Clear SOF1500. With the former, I had to use an exacto knife to cut away some of the plastic in order to get the cord detangler to spin properly. Another frustrating thing about this phone is that the indentations the receiver sits in are SO shallow and so small, if you try to attach a hands-free shoulder rest device (the big old fashioned clip-ones, not the foam-rubber ones) it'll tip over from the extra weight! All in all, a decent phone I guess, but the product engineers were asleep at the wheel when considering the after-market modifications consumers could potentially use on the phone. Try harder next time AT&T!
