You can make and receive calls by using the keypad and Speakerphone in the base station. The phone's three-party conferencing lets you conduct business with three people conversing together on three different lines. Automatic line selection means that when the phone is ringing and you pick up, you will be connected to the one that is ringing. You can also set up different ringtones for each of the lines. A large display provides easy-to-read text for setup and caller information. The phone has a 100-entry memory and a 99-name-and-number caller ID history. Numbers stored in the caller ID history can be dialed directly; and with call waiting-capable caller ID, you can see who is calling even when you are already on the line. You have to program area codes you are getting calls from, otherwise the phone puts 1 in front of the number the tel. co. sends. You can only program 4 but even if unlimited, who would sit there and program all possible area codes you might get a call from???!!!!The result is it makes it harder to identify the number and useless if you want to dial it!
The new call light indicator lights up even if you answered the call from that phone!
It might just be mine but the handset mike goes mute for no apparent reason. To fix it you must unplug the power and take the battery off for 5-10 minutes!!!

This review is mainly to comment on a glitch reported by other reviewers. The glitch is that the phone sometimes loses memory, including the time setting.
My experience - this only happens when there are no remembered telephone numbers of recent callers. As long as there is at least one number in memory, the glitch does not show up. So, when deleting the list of recent callers, leave at least one there and you will be fine.
If installed where caller-id is not available, this might be a problem. For, in that case, there is no way of getting recent callers into memory.
Apart from the one glitch, this telephone has performed flawlessly.

First phone developed multiple problems in less that 15 days. Construction seems flimsy, two number buttons started sticking within 5 days. Weight is not enough to keep phone in place when handset cord is stretched near to 2/3's length.
Volume through Plantronics headset purchased with the phone is very low. Don't know if it's the phone or the headset. Speaker phone and handset volume seem adequate.
Would not buy this combination again.

This is a fantastic day to day phone. I also ordered the Panasonic headset that plugs into the jack on the side of the phone. I use this phone daily in my home office and it works flawlessly. I really like the Caller ID display. The set-up took a bit of time to tune it to the way I wanted it to operate, but I was able to customize it to my needs.

I have been working out of a home office for nearly 10 years now, and needed a way to conveniently integrate a home phone line, and an office phone line. I have tried a number of 2 line phones in the past and they all either didn't work as advertised, or were missing a needed feature.
This phone is just what I needed...2 lines, speaker phone, headset capability, auto redial and the ability to conference! It works great! Sound clarity is very good on the hand set and the speaker, and the number storage quantity is more than I need. Buy this phone and you won't be disappointed!
