1 out of 5 stars Would not buy this again   June 24, 2010
carol derhaag (AUBURN, WASHINGTON, US)
I was getting this phone for my 92 year old father-in-law. When the phone came it didn't work then they sent me out another phone next day and it had a different problem I called for help to see if it was me, no it was the phones. So I called the phone company to see what I can do for him and they told me to get in hold CTAP and I would be able to get a free phone for his needs. I got a light that shines in the whole room and a ringer that can be heard outside. Talk to your Dr. Before buying a phone. NOT THIS ONE.
Its been 3 1/2 weeks and I am still waiting for my refund.
Good luck
Carol

2 out of 5 stars Very disappointing!   June 17, 2010
Michael O. Christensen
We were fairly pleased with the easy set-up for this phone and the amplification, although the sound quality makes you feel like you're talking inside a barrel. The instructions manual told us very little, so I don't even know if we were making use of all the features. Then, after purchasing the phone on May 2, on June 15 the amplifier quit working. This was past the June 2 return date, and my deaf father was suddenly without a phone. Very Disappointing and FrustratingGE 29579BE1 Amplified Corded Phone for Moderate-Severe Hearing Loss with Large Buttons & Caller ID!

5 out of 5 stars The phone that saved a Son's relationship with his Mom   June 12, 2010

When I had ordered this phone I had just hung up with my Mother, who couldn't hear every other word I said. Frustrated, I searched for a phone to amplify my incoming call for my Mom. She said that it sounds like I am in the same room when we talk on the phone. So no more "Eh?!" or my getting frustrated.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent for hard of Hearing   April 29, 2010
Dwayne Herbel (Kent, Wa)
Bought this for my mother,on Amazon. The ring volume is good and loud. The volume for the ear piece could be louder. The "amplify button" increases the volume OK except it is distorted with alot of surround noise. ( static )
This seems to be the best phone I could find for hearing impaired. The print out on the caller ID is good as well as the large dial buttons.

2 out of 5 stars Lacks standard features   April 19, 2010

Instructions a little confusing - alright, I still haven't figured out everything. Also, the speed dial (stored numbers) doesn't kick in on incoming calls so the name of the caller might not appear even though you have the number stored in speed dial. The ampify kicks in everytime making the incoming conversation sound funny. It might work well with hearing aids, but it's not for those of us who just need a little help. The large screen and buttons are great if your need reading glasses. Overall, I still haven't removed my old phone from my desk.
