| Customer Reviews: This phone is dangerous August 6, 2010 Ben Fischer (Mill valley, CA, US) It's a corded phone, right? How complicated can it be? It's not. The instructions clearly state to install 4 double A batteries before use. I put the batteries in and the phone heated up so hot within a few minutes, that it burned me when I picked it up. I picked it up because it smelled like burning plastic. After opening the battery compartment, removing the batteries and verifying that I had installed them correctly, and lastly carefully checking the instructions to rule out user error. After reinstalling the batteries, it again proceeded to heat up to an uncomfortable temperature, prompting me to remove the batteries, and after it had cooled repack it for return. I couldn't rate any of the other features, as the fear of an exploding phone setting fire to my house as I slept, over-rode my curiosity.
Good phone with non-modular "feature" July 13, 2010 Geoffrey Brown (Taconic, CT United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The phone is inexpensive and the sound quality is excellent. The delivery from Amazon vendor was overnight.
One defect is that the plug where the phone line plugs into the phone is not accessible without disassembling the phone. If you simply want to insert an existing phone jack into this phone, you cannot do it. I have no idea why ATT designed it this way, but since I use the phone about ten feet from the wall plug (longer than the included cord), I had to use a coupler to join the pre-attached phone cord to the cord from the outlet.
