4 out of 5 stars Excellent Phone But....   September 4, 2010

For the price, this phone is excellent - good clear loud sound, nice feature set, good quality speakerphone. But...it is advertised, or at least the picture displayed makes one believe that the display is backlit - beware - it is not..This may sound like a small thing and really it is, but one of the reasons I bought these phones (bought two of them) was my old phone's display was terrible to read in low light. While this one has a much bigger display, it still is difficult in low light. I would give this 5 stars if the display were as pictured. If a backlit display isn't important to you, then this phone is a good bargain.

4 out of 5 stars Good and reliable   August 22, 2010

I own the phone for a few weeks. I have it connected to a VOIP system and functions without problems. The sound is very good and the speaker phone functions very well.
Programming the phone (storing numbers to the memory etc) is not difficult but the name of the buttons does not help you do it intuitively so you need the operation manual to program it.
It is annoying that the display is not back lit but I understand that it has to conserve power of the batteries but this function could be adjustable.
The mute button does not only mute the microphone but also the speaker, so be careful when you use it.
Finally, the clock is not working properly. I set it and continuously is showing wrong time, so you will have hard time to find out what time someone called you.
Otherwise the phone functions better then expected for its price.

5 out of 5 stars Hard to find features   August 21, 2010

I have a location in my kitchen where a phone that works without electrical power is essential and they are very difficult to find. This one has a big CONTRAST (not backlit) screen, was easy to program, and works well. Very glad I found it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Phone for Elderly or Sight-Impaired User!   August 17, 2010

I needed to find a new phone for a relative with dementia and difficulty with sight. This looked like it would work out well, and it did! Easy to hook up, the buttons are huge and easy to see, and if the handset is dropped, it is attached by the cord so it can be easily retrieved. The only issue I have is with the lighting on the caller ID monitor--VERY difficult to see it even without a vision problem--it should be much brighter. But the phone is still worth every cent of the price, and I would not hesitate to buy another one for someone else. The volume is great and easy to adjust, and it doesn't take up a ton of space--fits nicely on a nightstand with room for a lamp beside it. Out of the 10+ phones I have tried, this one works the best for my situation.

2 out of 5 stars Good for normal call, except conference call - bad MUTE   August 12, 2010

The MUTE button is actually a HOLD feature. There is no true MUTE button on this phone. When on a conference call, putting the call on MUTE means you mute the microphone and you mute the audio. That defeats the purpose of a normal MUTE feature.

Other than that, the phone works.
